TRAC Intermodal Donates Field Trucks to Crosby (Tx) Fire Department for Rescue Training

Princeton, N.J., March 30, 2022 – TRAC Intermodal, the leading marine chassis provider and pool manager in North America, recently donated four field trucks to the Crosby (TX) Fire Department for use in the department’s training exercises to extricate trapped passengers. The donated trucks, previously scheduled for decommission, formerly resided at TRAC’s operations office in Houston.

Field trucks are used by TRAC maintenance and repair crews to test braking and electrical systems and structural components during chassis inspections. The donation was initiated by Brian McClanahan, an M&R supervisor for TRAC and a volunteer fireman at the Crosby Volunteer Fire Department. He was aware of the trucks’ future status and the department’s need for training equipment and helped engineer TRAC’s vehicle donation to his fire department.

As such, we were eager to donate our trucks to the Crosby Fire Department to contribute to such a worthwhile cause,” says Val Noel, EVP and Chief Operating Officer at TRAC Intermodal. “We’re fortunate that Brian was in an ideal position to connect the department’s needs with our available vehicles to extend their use and assist in critical training to help save lives during future accidents.”

McClanahan and Ron Smejkal, Senior Director, Maintenance and Repair at TRAC, officially handed over the field trucks to Alan Kulak, chief of the Crosby Fire Department and his crew at the fire department’s location, 123 South Diamondhead Boulevard in Crosby yesterday, March 29^th. The fire department will arrange for discarding of the vehicles and reprocessing the components following the completion of their training exercises.
